This week, TriDot announced the third installment of their Preseason Program (PSP). This multi-month training program prepares triathletes for their best season yet, giving access to at least two months of free, preseason training with no activation fee.

Why Focus On Preseason Training?

Kona often marks the end of the triathlon season coming to a close, serving as a great reminder for athletes to start looking toward 2017. What will your race schedule look like? How will you train in the preseason—and what should you be focusing on? When should you start?

TriDot conducted studies in both 2011 and 2013 to analyze the benefits of using their training platform for preseason training. The 2011 they found it significantly improved thresholds in all three disciplines. In 2013, they extended the study to measure how these significant preseason threshold improvements translated to actual in-season race performances.

The 2013 study included 837 athletes and showed remarkable gains: Over one hour for a full-iron and over 30 minutes for a half-iron for those who trained in both the preseason and in-season. Those who did not use TriDot to train either digressed in race ability or improved only slightly.

“It’s easy to underestimate the importance of preseason training, but the fact is, the preseason is arguably the most impactful training period of the year for triathletes,” shares TriDot’s Founder, Jeff Booher, a 4X IRONMAN. “It’s where you get fast–which is tough to do during in-season training when your focus must be going far.”

Athletes who qualify for the PSP receive full access to TriDot’s analytics-based triathlon training software and will experience highly personalized and optimized training and racing plans.
