Rudy Project, Italian designers and engineers of precision helmets, and IRONMAN today announced Rudy Project as the Official Helmet of IRONMAN® for North America. Having become an iconic symbol at triathlons around the world, Rudy Project helmets have taken the top spot as the most worn Aero/TT helmet for the last three consecutive years, including this year’s GoPro® IRONMAN® World Championship triathlon in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i. Now, the strategic partnership between Rudy Project’s performance helmet equipment and the world-renown IRONMAN® triathlon series in North America is set through 2015 as both companies strive to offer triathletes one of the most technologically advanced helmets on the planet.
“Endurance racing and triathlons are in the DNA of Rudy Project, and IRONMAN is at the core of these races,” said Paul Craig, President and Co-Founder of R.A.C.E., exclusive distributors of Rudy Project in North America. “That’s why we’re so excited our advanced technology and revolutionary helmets are partnered with IRONMAN as their official helmet for North America. This relationship will enable us to collaborate closely with those who regularly compete in the world’s most amazing races, and we look forward to working with the IRONMAN community to further the design and performance of our helmets to exceed the rigorous needs of IRONMAN athletes.
“We feel that the IRONMAN World Championship is the most iconic endurance event in the world and after a very successful race week we are excited to be able to announce our partnership with another iconic brand in Rudy Project,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for IRONMAN. “Rudy Project’s advanced technology and long history of innovation and quality to the helmet category is a perfect fit for our events and amazing racers.”
This partnership and endorsement comes on the heels of the 2013 GoPro IRONMAN World Championship and Rudy Project’s latest introduction: The WING57 – the new and highly anticipated Aero / TT helmet which many top pro triathletes competed in at Kona.
Building on the success of Rudy Project’s aero/ TT Wingspan helmet, winner of Triathlete Magazine’s “Best Aero Helmet” award, the new WING57 looks to once again revolutionize the Aero helmet industry with several new patented features, all within a superior lightweight protection architecture. These include a fully integrated and removable optical shield to provide maximum aerodynamics and eye protection, a dorsal ridge to convert side wind force into forward momentum, and the new patented Vortex Killer System which straightens air flow and significantly reduces drag.
