Strava has just released one of the most requested features since its inception. Real-time Segments gives runners and cyclists live performance updates during their segment effort. Adding on yet another layer of motivation to Strava Premium, athletes can now see exactly where they stack up on a certain segment the instant they complete it.
Instant Segment Times Right to Your Phone
Real-time Segments removes the wait and lets Strava Premium athletes see the day’s leaderboard and where they stand immediately after completing a segment.
“Bringing segment times to athletes in real-time is huge.” says Alex Mather, Head of Product at Strava. “It’s incredibly rewarding to put out a hard effort and instantly see where the effort stacked up – no more waiting until the activity is finished to see the results. Segment times is just the first of some really exciting real-time features that we have in the pipeline.”
Track Your Friends and Go Hands Free on Android
Now available on Android and coming soon to iPhone, Strava athletes can now see which of their followers on Strava are currently out riding or running. Premium members can opt-in to this feature (it’s “off” by default) and share real-time segment stats with followers. Real-time Segments for Android, and coming soon to iPhone, will also have audio support on popular segments in order to listen to performance updates during a segment effort.
Strava lets athletes all over the world experience social fitness – sharing, comparing and competing with each other’s personal fitness data via mobile and online apps. A powerful training tool that allows users to record routes, examine performances, and track milestones, Strava makes fitness a social experience, providing motivation and camaraderie even if you’re exercising alone.
