The holidays are coming and it’s time to make a choice: gobble up everything in sight or make a sound nutrition plan for the coming months that will keep you in (mostly) fighting shape come January. Our friends at NuttZo have come up with some fantastic recipes using their NuttZo spreads, but any of the recipes you see over the coming weeks will work with whatever nut butter you have on hand. Make them ahead of time for a dose of delicious gooeyness anytime your sugar tooth hits, or bring them to your holiday gatherings as a healthy but delicious option.
This first recipe is a healthy way to start your day with filling fiber, antioxidants and healthy fats. It’s also a good make-ahead option for when the relatives come to town and you’re looking for a family-style breakfast that doesn’t include the word “donut” in it:
1/3 cup of oats (we recommend Purely Elizabeth brand)
2/3 cup of almond milk (homemade is even better)
1T chia seeds
1T favorite NuttZo spread or other nut butter
1T hemp hearts
Directions: Mix together and stir well. Leave overnight in fridge. Eat in the am. Top with fresh berries and more NuttZo or other nut butter.
