An uploaded file; video, text, audio, application, image, interactive, etc.

Much of the information for a media file (title, copyright) will be stored in the metadata table, with all additional information stored in the ConMediaFile table.

Note, that in the diagram below, the “media file” content item is only the boxed area, the creator information, etc, would be stored in another content type (probably an “asset” or “object”, which would then relate to the appropriate media file). In other words, the “media file” is only interested in the actual details of the digital file (dimensions, type, filename), whereas an “asset” would store information about the object depicted by the media file (i.e. the creator of a painting, the subject of a photograph, etc.).
