Tu Nidito Children and Family Services is giving the triathlon community the unique opportunity to bring comfort, hope and support to a child whose life has been impacted by serious illness or grief as they Tri for a Child at the Ironman Boulder or Ironman Lake Tahoe.
Tri for a Child athletes are paired with and compete in celebration of a child dealing with the unimaginable: the diagnosis of a serious illness or the death of a loved one. As the athletes overcome obstacles training, preparing for and completing their IRONMAN event, their child is overcoming obstacles through their journey to healing. “This special connection between athlete and child is what makes the program a unique and rewarding experience,” says Traci Riccitello, president of the Tu Nidito board of directors.
Tri for a Child athletes pledge to raise $5,000 for Tu Nidito– “your little nest,” a Southern Arizona non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children whose lives are impacted by serious illness and grief. Athletes receive many perks including guaranteed race entry into SOLD OUT Ironman Boulder or the challenging Ironman Lake Tahoe, a Tri for a Child triathlon race kit and amazing incentive prizes. In addition, they receive a training plan from Jimmy Riccitello, Ironman Technical Director and Triathlete Coach.
