2017 LAVA MAG RUNNING SHOE COUNT

By David Jewell

@SuperDavidJewell

Once again, running shoe industry expert David Jewell worked the sidelines at the Ironman World Championship to collect data on what running shoes were being used in Kona. Hoka One One took the 2016 top spot away from industry giant Asics by a whopping number of percentage points.

Upstart Hoka is a relatively new brand against the likes of Asics, Nike and a number of obvious names in the shoe world. Other relative newcomers to the market also had a good day. On went from 4.0% to 6.9% and Salming went from less than .1% to a 1.3% total share.
