In the Ranks: Tissink, Naeth Move Up
A weekend of Ironman racing saw movement in both sets of rankings. With regards to last month’s July qualifiers accepting their slots, the roll down put Terenzo Bozzone (#50 as of July 31st) as the current final July qualifier. Raynard Tissink reclaimed the number one slot in the 70.3 Kona Pro Rankings after his second-place finish in Boulder. Ironman Regensburg saw Andreas Raelert complete his mandatory WTC Ironman event, putting him securely in position to claim one of the remaining 10 slots at the end of August if he so chooses.
In the women’s rankings, even with her win in Boulder, Canada’s Angela Naeth was still unable to overtake Leanda Cave in the number one position. Mary Beth Ellis won her second Ironman in Regensburg, and moved up in the rankings to 33rd. This puts her in a potential position to claim one of the final five women’s slots, despite being a newcomer to Ironman racing (her first being Austria in June, and she’s as yet undefeated.)
