A few hours ago, Olympic gold medalist and ITU World Triathlon Series champion Gwen Jorgensen announced that she is pregnant.

In her Instagram post announcing the news, she shared:
“2016 was a big year for me, but I believe 2017 will be even ‘BIGGER’
August may be my favorite month:
August 2011: 2nd at Olympic Trials
August 2014: ITU World Champion
August 2015: 1st at Olympic Trials
August 2016: Olympic Champion
August 2017: Expecting our first child”

She also shared the news on Twitter along with husband Pat Lemieux.

Jorgensen is currently 12 weeks pregnant and on a Facebook Live video, she said “her whole life she wanted to have kids.” Her husband, Pat, said he is looking forward to watching Gwen do triathlon with their child wearing a “Go Mom” shirt. Additionally, Gwen shared she will continue to train as long as she can—and they don’t plan to find out the sex of the child. She said she has been trying to keep track of her training and has noticed she has been breathing a lot heavier through training. She will continue to try to train and exercise, versus racing, but still has plans to race in Tokyo 2020.
