Ironman 70.3 Oceanside is always a stacked field, and this year proved no different. 2008 Olympic gold medalist Jan Frodeno crushed the course record, while Oceanside favorite Andy Potts ran his way to a runner-up finish. Ironman 70.3 world champion Sebastian Kienle rounded out the podium after surging toward the front on the bike and holding his own on the run. In the women’s race, Canadian Heather Wurtele smashed another course record on her way to the title, passing 2013 Oceanside champ Heather Jackson who would hold on for second place. Three-time Ironman New Zealand champion Meredith Kessler would round out the podium after a solid swim, bike and run performance.
