Jennifer Ward Barber
No existHailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba but currently residing in San Diego, Jen has been writing and publishing for as long as she can remember. From hand-made books and ‘zines, to newsletters, blogs, and now LAVA, her love of words and stories has been a central theme.
After getting her BA in literature, Jen completed a Masters in Journalism at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University. Since graduating, she has served as a fellow with the Carnegie and Knight foundations’ News21 program, worked for Webb Media and The Atlantic, and continues to freelance and run a food blog, FreshCrackedPepper.com, though it's taken a backseat to LAVA.
Now a dedicated triathlete, Jen got the bug back in 2008 when she completed her first triathlon on a used Diamondback road bike. Needless to say, being on staff at LAVA has opened her eyes to the upper reaches of the multisport world. Still, she'll never be afraid to rock a pannier and bike lights.
